Coinstar Signs Agreement With Real Hypermarkets To Rollout Coin-counting Kiosks Across Germany
Coinstar® today announced its partnership with leading German retailer real hypermarkets to bring self-service coin counting kiosks to consumers. With the additional 270 real installations, Coinstar will have more than 2,350 kiosks across Germany, the UK and Ireland and an additional 17,000 kiosks in North America.
“Initial adoption of Coinstar’s service in Germany with real has been very strong and we’re optimistic that it will be one of our most productive markets,” said Jim Gaherity, CEO of Coinstar, LLC. “We continue to look for viable markets where people accumulate coin and need an easy way to convert it.”
Coinstar® kiosks are currently rolling out at real stores across the country and all 270 locations are expected to be installed by mid-year. The kiosks offer coin-to-cash functionality and accept Euro coins of all denominations.
“We’re very pleased to bring this convenient self-service coin counting service from Coinstar to our hypermarkets across Germany,” said Christian Gruentjens, head of lease management for real. “We continually look for ways to create added value for our customers and believe this service will help real shoppers tap into increased spending power, while eliminating cumbersome coin that may simply sit idle.”
As a subsidiary of the Metro AG, real operates 282 hypermarkets in Germany. In addition, real also operates an online-marketplace with click & collect service and food delivery service. For the fiscal year 2016/17, the company achieved net sales of approx. 7.2 billion euros with about 34,000 employees. You can find further information on www.real.de and www.metroag.de.
